According to the Times Higher Education international ranking by subject, Óbuda University is among the best in Hungary in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering.
Óbuda University has achieved noteworthy results in the recently published 2022 ranking by subject of Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. In the field of Computer Science, ÓU is ranked in the range of 501-600. Óbuda University is now positioned among the best in Hungary, making it one of Hungary’s leading higher educational institutions. In the field of Engineering, it reached the range of 601-800, which is also an outstanding position in Hungary.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings officially positioned Óbuda Universtiy in the range of 1001-1200 for the first time in the overall international ranking published on September 2nd. With this, Óbuda University is the highest ranked technical university in Hungary.
On October 6, 2021, THE published rankings by subject in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering, where ÓU has significantly moved upward compared to the position simulated on the basis of last year's data.
The same 13 performance indicators in 5 categories are used to compile the subject area rankings as in the overall ranking. However, the general method and weightings are further refined and adapted to the specificities of each discipline for each thematic ranking.
The following factors were taken into account when making up the ranking: education 30%, research 30%, citation 27.5%, international indicators 7.5%, industrial income 5% (innovation).

The list is topped by the University of Oxford in the UK. Among Hungarian institutions, Óbuda University (501-600), the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the Eötvös Loránd University and the University of Debrecen (601-800), and the University of Szeged (801+) were ranked this year.
